VA Shrikumar had announced the film last year, however, he remained tight-lipped about the cast and crew. ‘Mission Konkan’ is based on the heroic tales of Mappila Khalasis, the traditional makers of urus aka big film will discuss how the Khalasis toppled the attempts of enemy countries to ruin India’s unity and technological advancement.
The director had earlier said to Kochi Times that the film is made on a massive budget and will have Ratnagiri, Goa, Delhi, Beypore, Kozhikode, and Palakkad as the major locations.
Meanwhile, ‘Mission Konkan’ also marks VA Shrikumar’s second feature film. He marked his debut in cinema in 2018 with ‘Odiyan’ featuring Mohanlal in lead. The film created a lot of buzz ahead of its release, however, failed to live up to its expectations. The fantasy thriller was based on
Odiyan, who according to Kerala folklore, could shapeshift and even take animal form. The film also featured Manju Warrier in a pivotal role. Antony Perumbavoor of Aashirvad Cinemas backed the project.
On the other hand, Mohanlal has recently wrapped up the shoot of ‘Bro Daddy’ helmed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. Mohanlal was filming in Telangana. The film has an ensemble cast of Meena, Lalu Alex, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Kaniha, and Soubin Shahir.
Mohanlal has also signed to play the lead role in Jeethu Joseph’s upcoming film ‘12th Man’. The shoot of the film is progressing in Idukki and Mohanlal is expected to join the sets soon.
